I suspect any incremental cost in my membership due to "non-member support"
is minimal! Most will be going on undoing the current fiscal mess the
society is in, sorting out Bletchley and trying to sell that bloody tower
they bought!
I don't imagine there's a lot of real money spent on negotiations, other
than a quick trip from Bedford to London on Thameslink, a tube ride and a
coffee.

Bear in mind, Chris, the rest of us are subsidising you and other UK
radio amateurs who are non members of the National Society. Negotiations
with Ofcom, IARU Region 1 and the ITU (WRC2012, etc) do come at a cost
and we're paying it for you :-(
