Hi all
Forget all vernacular World Service Broadcasts. What the world needs right now is Radio Caroline. She is the British secret weapon of mass enjoyment! Rocking gently and anchor up the Barking Creek (well Tilbury in Essex actually) just waiting for the day when she can once again blast those nasties with 50,000Watts of M/F from an RCA BTA-50H Ampliphase modulated TX with highly compressed AM ... Rock and Roll .
Arr those were the days....... mmmmm 73 es GL petefmt

It's no longer an offence to have a TV set to play games or watch BBC iplayer. It still is here in Ireland though. 73, Tony, EI8JK. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Warren Ziegler"<[email protected]> > To:<[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, January 31, 2011 12:50 PM > Subject: Re: LF: OT End of the BBC World Service on Shortwave > > > John, Pete, > > I'll keep it brief since we are getting further off-topic. > I have two thoughts on the end of the BBC World Service on Shortwave: > > 1) The reliance on the Internet for program distribution is worrisome. > One only need look at Egypt where the Internet is shut down, or China > where it is censored. > > 2) The BBC World Service gives the U.K. considerable stature in the > World, in other words the U.K. is a small country with a big voice and > international role.
