Hi,I have been an RSGB member for quite a few years now and I agree with most of you that "Radcomic" is becoming too much of an advertisment orgy! The number of full-page ad's for multi-button appliances is asymptotically approaching 50% of the total number of pages. My "threshold of pain" has been reached long ago, I am saddened by this development and I don't want to pay for these ad's anymore... The swedish ham magazine QTC seems to be following the same trend. Technical articles are beeing replaced by mega-multi-button advertisments and quantity seems to go before quality... Some ad's disguised as "reviews" are sometimes really disturbing: 99% positive comments and then "Thanks to company XYZ for the loan of the plastic gadget..". Think! The future of amateur radio may already be behind us. :-( 73 Johan SM6LKM Andy Talbot wrote: The two job titles that used to run the magazine were "Editor" and "Technical Editor" now they are "Managing Editor" and "Features Editor" . That sez it all! |
