In the interest of full disclosure ... there are
times when the cardiod pattern is not the best for EU reception. Specifically,
when Tstorms get cranked up in the Gulf of Mexico and northern SA, it is not
unusual for the large untuned NE/SW loop with it's figure 8 pattern to
outperform the cardiod ... due to better rejection of the Tstorm
noise.
