Hello Riese, LFers, Aahh....the good old neon sign transformer, or NST as we Tesla coilers refer to them. It brings back a lot of fond memories including a visit with Mike Tucknot of Swindon, U.K. Another very robust transformer that might work for your experiments would be one from a microwave oven.
