Hello Felix,

While walking arround during the sunset here, i got a thought:
What about recording a 20 second long audio file (.wav for example) with a sample rate of 48 kS/s or even 96 kS/s, centered on 475 kHz? You could transfer it via the satellite link. You told me they have a 2 Mbps link, so it seems to be no problem. We could have a view into the spectrum and may get an impression about the background noise, i.e. if there is some QRN or if it rather looks/sounds like white noise. If possible, just provide a link where one can download the file for inspection :-)

What do you think?

Aah and there was a second thought! :-) I know there is always a radio amateur on board. Would it be possible to try alternative antennas? As i have been in contact with DL1LLL in 2013, he told me they have a basic electronic lab. Maybe they have a JFET and some resistors and capacitors, you know... But i know, the WSPR decodes are used for that project at the university so they won't like their data to get messed up. Next summer, as you said. Here on my tree where the Raspi is running i can remotely switch a bipolar relais to switch between different antennas. For the next project, this could be an idea maybe.

RX running...

Hi everyone!

Just to be there right in time i would suggest to try starting 17 UTC.
If you can confirm that you will switch to 630m at that time, i will be
on air then.

By popular request (from a single person...) I have just switched the RX at DP0GVN to 630m again. This means that there will be another full night of LF reception in Antarctica from now until 0700 UTC on March 9. Please give it a try!
