Thread-topic: LF: HF Radio black out / also on VLF!

Hi All

What we got at about 9 UTC was an intense flare peak reaching R2

http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/space-weather-enthusiasts

Looks like since then I’m getting less ground noise in my grabber. Specially in the lower frequencies

like the 50Hz window at the bottom of my grabber

https://ea5dom.ure.es/grabber/index.html

The drop of noise is clearly seen also in the 8270Hz and 4270Hz  3.8mHz FFT windows at Stefan’s VLF grabber

I keep transmitting in MF during the day. But no signs of inono refelections due to flares

Hi Roelof,

Very interesting. It also affects VLF! Clearly visible e.g. at http://www.iup.uni-heidelberg.de/schaefer_vlf/DK7FC_VLF_Grabber2.html
It happens since about 9 UTC.
Would have been interesting to observe the propagation on 8.27 kHz during that time...

Hello all,

Now something different:

It looks like a severe radio black out of HF is ongoing.
I have never seen this before. See attachment.

This is also an opportunity to look at PLC interference at the lower
bands, which is normally covered by signals.

I checked it on 3 different antennas: mini-whip, loop and
hf-doublet.
