Hello Graham,

This will work as well.
I have build one in a small die cast aluminum box.
The box was the "antenna" and the buffer amplifier was inside the box.
The feed line was connected via an isolated BNC connector.

I believe the form that approached a ball the most, was a unit where the electronics were mounted on a BNC connector and the "antenna"consisting of copper foil wrapped around it.
It fitted inside a half 35 mm film cannister.
