Hi Jim

Sorry I missed the that mail I guess. Quickly looking at the G4JNT pdf file the circuit is basically the same as the Softrock TX in essences.
The reason I suggested Softrock is that it is a kit immediately available and can be put together quickly without having to make up all CCT board or source all the components individually which makes it a "Surefire" solution.

I will be honest I have not made a Softrock TRX for 500 only for 40/30m standard kit. I have other solutions i.e a couple of SSB TRX available. I and have built a transverter for 500 but not got it working so far.

I regularly use the RX part of my Softrock TRX for 30, 40m and 80m and can convert 500kc/s to the bottom end of 80m but to be perfectly honest I am not that enamoured with WSPR but just wanted a nose around.

I always thought that WSPR phase shift modulation had to be linearly amplified thinking about it now I don't know why I thought that.

Dear  Pete, Chris, LF Group,

Yes...

That is essentially what G4JNT's simple phasing upconverter design ( http://www.g4jnt.com/LFUpconv.pdf ) mentioned previously does.

Well more of a frequency modulator, but this generates a 1500Hz modulated audio output from a PIC code generator. I think G3XIZ already has the 1500Hz modulated audio available from his existing PC, he just needs a way to get it onto 500kHz.

Cheers, Jim Moritz
