Thank you for the headsup, I have down loaded the file OK and am waiting for a local Amateur to confirm if he can program the PIC for me. In the mean time have looked up the parts... depending upon domestic commitments will start to make up a board. Thanks again for your interest

GPS is not necessary, in addition to the serial input which extracts UTC
time from a GPS NMEA data stream, there is also a separate trigger input
pin that can be used with whatever "even minute" timing device you might
have (including a manual pushbutton!).
