That is essentially what G4JNT's simple phasing upconverter design ( http://www.g4jnt.com/LFUpconv.pdf ) mentioned previously does.

Well more of a frequency modulator, but this generates a 1500Hz modulated audio output from a PIC code generator. I think G3XIZ already has the 1500Hz modulated audio available from his existing PC, he just needs a way to get it onto 500kHz.
