Regardless of appellations used in the licence, a station transmitting for
pure amateur pleasure with no professional/commercial intent is by all
standards of English usage...

an "amateur radio station"...[your honor, My Lord, Judge, Maitre, Ref. )
etc.

Did you know that some countries in EU and beyond do not recognise some of
the UK licenses and their amateurs are not permitted to work them. On LF/HF
it seems M3XXX and 2E1/2E0 are prohibited. Perhaps someone else could
clarify this position just as a matter of interest. In Singapore an exchange
licence is not automatic you have to visit a magistrate and be confirmed as
a fit person to hold a licence. Your current licence must equate to the what
was a full class A licence before the changes took place in the UK.
So all things are NOT equal regardless of what some say about radio amateurs
contacting other radio amateurs.
