New H rx in operation since 12:00 today and calibrated for
phase. The two channels are very closely matched, only 0.1
degree phase difference at 8270 Hz!

Not amplitude calibrated yet but my guess of the gain
setting turned out to be good so the existing calibration
will do for now.

Getting some weak breakthrough from the MF tx at Moorside
Edge,

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moorside_Edge_transmitting_station

Only 14km from here.

I bodged the PSU to make it work. My rxs both work on an 18V
supply - had to boost that to 33V and use a shunt regulator
at the rx (a series regulator didn't cure the starting problem)
plus paralleling two pairs in the cat 5.

I've ordered parts to upgrade both rxs to a 48V bus, that
hopefully will permanently solve the problem and I can have
my spare cat 5 pair back.

The rx will have to come back in for a day to mod the PSU and
cure the MF problem, perhaps at the weekend. Meanwhile it runs
and will discover tonight if it can receive weak signals.

Many trips through the farm yard today and The Grendel ate a lot
of sausages. It eventually appeared almost friendly and even
let me stroke it at one point. Then it bit my hand. A fine
collection of wounds now accumulated, more on the right leg than
the left. The animal has a preference? While sat in the field
guarding the calibrator, I watched the farmer work the dog
to round up the sheep (clutching packet of sausages in case
it came near). It's actually an impressive sheep dog.
