Hi StanJust in case you haven't seen some of the discussions on this reflector...I should have mentioned that the Octo/Pi combination works fine with Paul Nicholson's vlfrxtools. You can find details here: http://abelian.org/vlfrx-tools/If you know Linux and theory of signal processing/DSP this s/w suite will cater for most vlf applications.
