Hi

I have been using a military "antenna equivalent" for a very long time. I paid for it about one euro. Cost at the moment is 3-5 euros. It has been working very well for years but when built on ferrite cores it burned.

It's a solid military CCCP construction, it has worked in 50Hz – 7,5MHz frequencies.

Hi Jacek, Yes I have been collecting thermocouple meters for about 60 years.
The problem with them is they are very fragile. In the UK it is generally the
case that any  meter offered is usually of 1940s vintage and invariably the
thermal link is fused. [...]

these are probably from the '70s. i have one, and Marcin SQ2BXI has
another and both work (i know this isn't a big sample size).

these seem to appear in batches at auction sites. i haven't seen them for
a year, but can let you know when they appear again if you want one for
your collection. they may also be more often avaliable from russian,
ukrainian etc sellers

right now on allegro (e-bay like auction site) there is a 10A rf ammeter
and 1kW load (used for tuning the R140 military station PA), but not as
cheap (319zl + shipping, exchange rate is about 4.2 zl/euro):
