Dear All,

To re-enforce Pete's comments below, I use Outlook running under Windoze to retrieve e-mails from both the blacksheep reflector, and also the Yahoo group. I also use the Yahoo mail service to retrieve mail to my I-Pad. In both cases, the e-mails look identical, except that the Yahoo LF group e-mails have a couple of clickable links at the bottom. The e-mail client (Outlook & the Apple mail client) just checks the server every few minutes and pulls down any new mail from both LF sources.

Otherwise - no difference. No adverts, no other extraneous stuff. I guess that if one uses the Web to access one's mail service online with Internet Explorer or Firefox, the advertising garbage may then be visible, but as I don't, I never see the junk.

Hi All

I may be missing the point here and appologies if that is the case.

To avoid the adverts and the "Brave New World" or "The Shock of the New" that Yahoo has brought to LF you can elect to have your LF mails "Bundled" and delivered to your existing Web e-mail address or to your POP server sans ads!

Try it. The presentation is virtually as it was on Blacksheep but with a clickable index at the top of the page.

Hi,

While I can understand some people's wishes to continue on the blacksheep server, those should understand that the move to Yahoo is not because email servers are suddenly outdated and not 'en vogue' any longer. There are reasons behind this transition. Some (many?) of us had trouble to post in the past couple of months and were on 'read only' mode due to some issues with the server. I had tried multiple times to post here and, due to the lack of time, I had to give up. Only recently I found a workaround by using a completely different email account. I am glad that with the Yahoo Group I can return to read and hopefully post on a regular basis, making use of the LF/MF's community joint intelligence and experience.

Talking about advertisements and spam: the email address that I used only for the LF-reflector has been swamped in the past years by mails from people from foreign countries offering a lot of money if I assist them to transfer money of numerous people who suddenly and sadly passed away. I am glad to get rid of those spams as well now and gladly take into account some advertisements on the Yahoo group.
