Less than 1 GBP per week - good value IMHO!
The following is guaranteed in any hobby (certainly seen on this reflector)
- there will always be freeloaders who will:
- criticise the valuable work of the volunteers but will not be prepared to
get off their own backsides and offer to do better
- make negative and "clever" remarks without having a clue of the real hard
work that goes on unseen in the background ( a case in point is the 472-479
kHz allocation - it was agreed by WRC07 as an agenda item for WRC12 so at
least five years technical and regulatory hard work by the IARU in the ITU
WRC and Regional preparatory groups. It got 42 EU countries supporting plus
the CITEL countries (North/South America) plus APT countries (Asia-Pacific)
plus ATU African countries. The Lead Spokesman on this agenda item for the
CEPT (all EU countries) was Colin Thomas - RSGB - that cost more than a
Thameslink fare to London and a cup of coffee!).
The trouble with the internet is that it attracts the armchair critics.
Soapbox ready for someone else now.....

A bit harsh Jim. The tower was sold a year ago at what it was bought
for. Bletchley opened last weekend and is budgeted for, admittedly a
bit over initial budgets.
Remember if it weren't for the RSGB we certainly wouldn't have any of
our current LF allocations. Several members of the society (one of
which is now on the interim board) were the key players in negotiations
on this with IARU.
And nobody else has commented, RSGB subs are £47 with direct debit.
Fairly similar to other organisations of similar size.
