I have a Wandel-Goltermann SPM-19 I would like to dedicate to the Spec
Lab plotting duties. This unit has had a receive problem every since I
got it over ten years ago. So I have primarily used it as a signal
generator since the generator output is very accurate and stable.
I had the unit operating for a HiFer beacon this past summer when a
sudden thunderstorm developed. Before I could disconnect any of my
radios lightning struck. The SPM-19 was among several fatalities. By a
stroke of luck I just recently was able to revived the SLM. The power
supply had a shorted bridge rectifier module.
Now I'm back to the original receive problem. It appears some section
of the frequency synthesizer may be just on the edge of locking up. About half the time an error code is displayed when any function is
used. When it does lock and appears to be working the frequency is off
by 1.792 Khz. This holds true across the 0 to 25 MHz range. The
generator output on the rear remains dead on the displayed frequency. What I guess is a LO signal, 40 to 65 MHz at a BNC connector on the
rear, also tracks with the display plus 40 MHz.

I see a lot of things to tweak on inside the unit but before I go for
broke and start fiddling with them I thought I would seek professional
help. The cream of the crop is on this reflector! Ideas?
