Hello Jay,

Yes, this is for my higher power TX antenna. I will dig into my junk box for other glass/glazed ceramic insulators. Just got back from the New England ARRL hamfest in Boxboro and saw a bunch of insulators at the flea market. I like the idea of the delrin (non-hygroscopic nylon) insulators. What outer diameter (solid) rod would you suggest, as a good starting point ?

Possibly 3/4" or 1/2" OD ?  with holes 1" from the ends ?

Stan

If you're planning on using this mast as the radiating element on MF and especially LF with any appreciable power, egg insulators will be problematic. The relatively small physical separation with normal moisture and 'contaminents' will carbon track. I've had good luck using black delrin rod ~ 6 - 10 inches in length with holes drilled in each end. Countersink the holes to remove the sharp edges.
