This brings back memories of traditional jazz programmes in Europe in the 1950s and 60s. I picked up most of the German I know from listening to Jazz Mit Joe (Abrach) on the BBC German service (232 m medium wave). Reception was often poor (much QRM) but the signature tune (“South”) always came through clearly and I still have a recording of it.
