I'm using an HP 110-C and there is only one audio jack for both
output and input. It accepts a 3.5 mm mini plug with a tip, two
rings and a ground (or 3 rings depending on how you want to look at
it). Four wires come out of the molded plug. That's enough for
ground, stereo outputs and one mike input. I suspect the audio chip
on the board could process stereo inputs but I'm reluctant to
disassemble the netbook to see if it might be possible to install a
separate stereo line input jack. The machine is very thin and space
inside would be limited. I'm using this netbook presently to monitor
DHO38 at 23.4 Khz because they don't roll off the audio too severely
at the top end when sampling at 48 Khz. I know there are good
external USB soundcards available.

least on my PC model. It is a dual-use (line/mic) input. Did you try
to feed the MIC input on your PC from a stereo signal source?
