Yep I think you are right Steve - FA Fairbanks on 510 has a heck of fade pattern in Wasilla over a 300 mile path or so -  but I blame the mountains between me and it (got to blame something) - as it must come in at a high angle. PVQ is a lot more shallow...
 
I use PVQ commercially on our company flights from Anchorage to the North Slope, also look out for Pitsand near Kuparak Alaska on 290.0 (about 40 miles West of PVQ)
 
I wish I had more receiver resources available up there and not restricted Internet either.
 
Sorry about the snow in Europe chaps - you can keep it.
