Hello Joe,
Fine! It is interesting and motivating to see that you are also doing steps to
become QRV :-)
Jim/M0BMU has designed a loop RX antenna with a preamp and a band filter for
the Dreamers Band ® that seems to work very well. At least, he has copied my
signal (2mW ERP to that time) out of a distance of 657 km
(http://abelian.org/vlf/ss100321/), the second farest distanced reception of an
amateur so far! This may be an option for you...
If i remember correctly, the circuit is available on the sites of G3XBM and it
was posted here before some weeks...

Betreff: Re: VLF: RX stations in Canada and US?
Thanks to Stefan and Clemens for the helpful info. Tonight the RX
with the 100m wire was used to copy the Alpha sigs on 11.905 kHz at
about 20 dB above the noise. The RX is noticibly less sensitive
at 8.97 kHz, but there is still much QRN there.
The calibration of the RX and sound card seem good to within 0.5 Hz.
Eventually a loop will be tried with the sound card.

Joe
