Hi Paul, The wire size doesnt make a lot of difference. To get an advantage (significant increase in capacitance) a second wire needs to have at least 2 feet (and preferably 3 feet) separation from other top wires. It does not matter how they are connected (fan or zig-zag) provided they do not pass over roofs, trees, or other lossy "environment". Since top wires carry no radiating current it doesnt matter what the resistive loss is, so provided a wire is srong enough to support itself it should be OK. It is possible to use what the telephone companies call "drop wire" here in the UK, this has a copper strand and 5 or 6 steel ones. Alan G3NYK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul A.
