Hello all,
In practice even a short in regards of wavelength wire on the ground shows
good directivity. A 100 m long untermintated wire on the ground is already
an excellent antenna from 250 kHz and up. This antenna is unidirectional.
I have been testing some real barbed wire fences of 1500 metre long, which
showed a very narrow beamwidth in one direction.
If you have the opportunity, there are many usuable fences out there which
can be put to good use as a reception antenna. You might be in for a nice
surprise.
As these antenna don't work as normal antennas, the modelling programs won't
work at all. Study of the beverage type of antenna will make this clear.
Best regards,
Roelof Bakker, pa0rdt
