after some searching, I have found an interesting, quasi-realtime
lightning
map. It is on the website of the WWLL (World Wide Lightning Location)
network:

They do not claim the sub-kilometer accuracy of some of the commercial
networks, but they have a nice global display updating every 10
minutes. The data is
based on correlated VLF receivers (TOGA = time of group arrival), and
the
published spectrograms are also pretty impressive.
It has been quiet on this reflector today, hope its working.
