The ground is peat and rocks..
The only earth system is radials and wire fences. Pointless banging stakes
into this!

What kind of soil do you have? Also, what type of ground screen do you
have
under the antenna? The Lowfer guys in this area (eastern US) experience
the
opposite effect. In other words, as the ground dries out we see improved
antenna current. Soil is fairly sandy and I'm thinking this is the reason.
