The parallel port would enable simple hardware to allow a crude D/A

Direct I/O to peripherals is a no-no (impossible to do, anyway...) in
Windows NT, Windows 2000 and XP. But there are DLLs around
that contain a VxD inside, that allow to do that, acting as proxies on
the behalf of your code.

What coding are you going to use - ie. the code table and timings, - then I
can write something for driving my DDS board.

I didn't say I am going to write code just now... :-) I have a few sheets of
paper filled with possible coding schemes, but still have to make up my mind,
there are many variables in the whole picture... but will keep you informed.
