Hello LF folks,
Have been testing my new AR-7030 Plus receiver and
after purchasing an 8 Ah Tudor battery some of the hum
problems were cleared. With a 500 Hz Collins filter
- which is absolutely necessary - can now say that this
is the best receiver I have been using (since the WWII).
Using a 15 m long wire at 3 m AGL I heard yesterday some
135-136 kHz 'DX's' for the first time - no transmitter thou.
There is a 1:10 transformer between coax and 'long' wire.
SM4DHN was calling OZ1KMR around 2123 UTC, with no answer.
I heard both loud and clear. Also heard SM4DRN calling.
With a Kenwood R5000 nothing at all were copied.
I understood that Datong VLF/LF converter is best available?
Have been using a converter built some years ago by OH3EK.
The above catches were with straight AR-7030, no converter.

I just worked SM4DHN, Lars-Bertil in Hagfors, on 136.5.
Lars-Bertil uses a 400W PA and a T-antenna.
Heard SM4DHN at good signal strength here near Kiel, 429 at
21:30 UTC. Called him many times this evening but the only
reply was "QRZ?"...
