Record distance for a VLF transmission from an earth dipole antenna.
Recently we’ve done a successful transmission from an earth dipole on 8270 Hz.
This is the first amateur transmission on VLF from Poland which has been received in another country. This is also the record distance for a transmission using a ground dipole antenna – over 1330 km.

This is probably the first VLF signal which has been transmitted from Poland after World War II. We are not aware of any military or other transmissions. Before the war we had the Babice Transatlantic Radiostation (callsigns AXO/AXL/SPO/SPL), which was similar to Grimeton/SAQ.
First succesful transmission on 8270Hz between Canada and Poland
Joe VO1NA transmitted on 21 december 2017 at 8270.0075Hz.His transmission was succesfuly received in Warsaw (RX Jacek/SQ5BPF), at a distance of about 5100km. This is the first succesful reception of a signal from Canada in Poland at 8270Hz.

It’s interesting to see the pace of advancements in this field. In 2010 receiving a carrier (with lots of power and a huge antenna) 900km away was a big achievement. In 2017 sending a short message using a much smaller antenna is normal.
Succesful transmission on 2970Hz
On 10 march 2017 Stefan DK7FC experimented with transmitting on 2970Hz. The signal was received in Todmorden, England by Paul Nicholson at a distance of about 850km!
