Thread-topic: AW: JT9-2 and JT9-5 mode application: shown S/N values

In addition to my previous mail:

I have rather high QRM levels below 800Hz audio (at 474.2kHz dial USB).

Best is between 900Hz and 1200Hz audio.

Hello Marco, all,

I will leave SlowJT9 in JT9-2 mode running (RX) overnight.

I will be in and out the shack till 23 UTC and will reply to any call I can catch. If there are any overnight copies I will report tomorrow.

Hello Marco,

I had SlowJT9 running in JT9-2 mode and copied you, but had left the shack for some minutes:

2055 -11  0.0 1106 2  CQ DD7PC JN49

I called you when I came back, but you probably switched back to JT9 ot FT8.

About could not save the settings: if you installed SlowJT9 in the  "Program files" folder  you have to run SlowJT9 with administartor rights in order to save the settings. Or you can install SlowJT9 in another folder (c:\SlowJT9).

Thank you for the feedback,

Hello Rik,

Software works fine for me (only minor things like could not save settings when closing prog). Tried on MF a JT-2 transmission without any issue.

Thanks for your effort.

Betreff: LF: JT9-2 and JT9-5 mode application: shown S/N values

Dear all,

just a short notice that the shown S/N values are those delivered by the JT9 decoder, not taking the audio conversion into account.

This means that the real S/N values are about 3dB lower (more negative) that shown for JT9-2 and 7dB for JT9-5.

I did some test this afternoon that comfirms this: for JT9(-1) and JT9-2 signal of the same amplitude and added to the same noise the shown S/N values  for the JT9-2 signal were in average 2.7dB higher that for the JT9(-1) signal.

Although the S/N values are "just numbers", what really matters is if the signal decodes or not, I will correct this in the next release.
