Thread-topic: LF: First MF transmission from Oscar LU1DOW

Hi Luis, Oscar, all,

it is indeed the right time of the year for a LU-EU grayline path.

@ Oscar: Any chance for you to transmit in QRSS10 between 20 and 23 UTC one of these days?

If it announced on the blacksheep and yahoo reflectors you will have a good audience in Europe (including me).

Hi All, MF

Just to let you know that Oscar is in the list and reading the messages. He is not fluent writing English. That’s all

But he reads all your comments

Seems that he has already rised great interest and even got emails from Brazil and Guatemala stations he didn’t know they

were active for Rx. As soon as he get his system working in WSPR it will be easier to get decodes, I hope

At least we know that the 4CX1500A will not burn easily and will be a nice heater for winter down there in LU J

Hi Luis / Group.

Sounds like it may be possible for Oscar to be heard in Europe. - That looks to be quite a strong signal at 1000km.

I wounder if we could ask Oscar to announce his next planned 630m transmission.  There are excellent grey line possibilities

between 20.00 and 21.00 at this time of year.

Even if it's QRSS, we could have a look for it if we knew the time mode and frequency.

Jim:  I've seen details online of a station in the USA who has converted a Heathkit HF amplifier to 630m....So it may be possible !

Hi MF

While there is only residual activity in north hemisphere, we are aproaching winter solstice in south hemisphere

Oscar, LU1DOW, confirms his first QRSS transmissions were successfully received by LU8YD at 1000km. See picture attached

This is the first MF ham transmission in Argentina. A great achievement

Oscar is using a tube amplifier with a 4CX1500A running about 1400w if I recall correctly. The antena is a Marcony T

20m long and 20m high. He was using this setup in LF and recently modified it to MF but the bad weather delayed

the transmissions untill now

Next goal is to modify the exciter to be able to work with WSPR. Martin YV7MAE and Ruben EB8ARZ looks like ideal

candidates to receive his transmission

Good luck Oscar !
