You might have seen my overnight plot of VO1NA.
The signal starts out very weak and at first is obliterated by
static interference from south Italy.
This will be far less the case in Norway and might explain the much
earlier reception by LA3EQ. I found that the path of propagation at
these frequencies can be quite directive.
For your interest, I have attached a Linrad overnight plot of
reception of NDB QY, Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Albeit
transmitting on a much lower frequency, the general pattern is very
similar as that of VO1NA's OP8 signal.
A dawn enhancement is quite noticeable.
