Saw Jon's activity on 80m and he has been kind to make a test on MF tonight
Jon is using a vertical antenna at the moment. A bit noisy but not so bad as
seen on the reports
Is very nice to have a Rx on EA8. First time, maybe ??
Hope he can also Rx some other strong stations during the night, from EU or
even US
Antenna here is the T wire. Vertical line 11m long and 2 x 6m on top. Used the
big coil as variable
coil to find a resonance point. Then connected the line there on the right
turn. It is about 1.20mH
Now I need to rework the coil with 1,5mm2 wire and get a higer Q. Still not
matched impedance
so there is room for improvements. The free side of the coil (unused section)
is flasing high voltage
fireworks, so there is another waste of energy there ;-)
As I'm using only one side of the >3mH coil, the other is floating and I get a
high voltage there which
makes some fireworks flashing. I can see it with my camera located on terrace.
So, wasteing some energy
No idea abut RF current at the moment. Probably not too much. The "ground" is
made with the horizontal
loop combined with the fire extinguish waterpipe which runs 80m down inside the
building
As Markus envisioned time ago, the long pipe to ground is really working as an
advantage
