Hello Stefan, LF

Sorry, I missed your reply last night.

Well, as for 599 +20 -signals I can only say that the whole LW and MW BC-bands were in the passband and same waterfall with you. I run the dongle in 2.4 Msym/s mode so can "see" 2.4 MHz in one screen.

The only filtering I use is a simple 50 ohm LPF PI-filter with f -3dB at 15 MHz (The chip does DC-14.4 MHz).

I tried this mostly for fun, but the cheap setup delivers more than I expected.

Uuh, thanks Paul-Henrik. Can you tell me about the dynamic range of that dongle? As long it is 539 there is no problem but could it manage "599+20" ?

Now you can give it a try on LF. Can you hear me TXing OP32 on 137.533 kHz?

Hello Stefan, LF

Your CQ's are 539 here on a Mini-Whip directly into the "demodulator" -chip on a slightly hardware-hacked RTL-SDR TV USB-dongle :-).

The "hack" is just bypassing the VHF/UHF tuner-chip and running straight into the +I and -I inputs of the RTL2832U via a 1:4 XFRMR.

No TX here at the moment but receiving you so well on a hacked 10 euro USB-dongle and the old MiniWhip is just a tad more than I expected...

Anyone for a QSO?
