Thread-topic: LF: 74550 XRS in Germany

Hi Bob,

that happens when the PC is "a bit too busy".

Try the CW ID at 6 wpm, that should function better.

The original code was written 1998 for Win95 and has been adapted as newer version of Windows over the years. Maybe it's about time to have a closer look and optimize the interrupt procudure used for the CW-ID. It is on my to-do list (amongst many other things).

Rik;
Good to meet you here.  I always have used your program.  I am having a bit of trouble with CW ID.  The dits sometime don't come out at all or very short dits for the ID is there something I can do to help improve it?

Hi Bob,

you got the call correct ;-)
The main advantage of DFCW (over QRSS) is that at the same dotlength the speed is about 3 times higher, due to the fact that dots and dashed have the same length (see http://www.qsl.net/on7yd/136narro.htm#DFCW).

Stefan;
I notice you always use DFCW.  I also noticed John Andrews does too the last time I saw him on 73.  Yes I think it is easy for me to change.  I use the ON7YD [hope I have his call correct] program and feed my SSB exciter with the laptop with that program and I see it available on his "options" page.  I was going to ask you why you use it.  Now I know and I will try it tonite-Bob

Hello Bob and Hartmut,

My congratulation for that success. Both of you must have a very suitable system to radiate respectively receive a signal on the 4000m band!

Bob, can you transmit DFCW? If 4000m behaves reasonable like 2200m, then DFCW-180 should be a good choice! It is a bit slower and may allow reception of your signal even for station with lower RX sensitivity than Hartmut offers. Also DFCW gives you a better ID since the frequency shift is another indicator which separates your signal from random QRM...

Bob,

the capture is a bit tiny, because I used a qrss 120 screen. Your signal was drifting and you crossed the Loran line just before 04:00. For the future a frequency 1 Hz lower would be better.
