Just seen the dreaded words "Band Plan" I think there are some who would not like this, me included. The Band plan is the RSGB Police-mans weapon of choice. Four meters has gone from a friendly rub along band to a band with abusive RSGB Band Plan individuals that are never heard in QSO's but come out of the wood-work and jam the channel in the name of the Band Plans.

 

So nailing my colours firmly to the mast I say no band plan (well not written in stone anyway). I have even had unsolicited e-mails from Amateurs purporting to be RSGB officials who ought to know better. If OFCOM decree some form of plan like avoiding NDBs and the like well OK but they are the only authority that I am prepared to obey apart from a common sense avoidance of deliberate interference something lost on the channel jammers on VHF!

Codec2 might be a viable medium term solution for real-time compression
of speech for narrow band communication (http://codec2.org/).
