Thanks G and Stefan - no I think its just poorish conditions up here in the North (more geomag latitude) - at medium latitudes conditions may be good, but up here in la la land we tend to get hard first and hardest before stuff starts to precipitate down to say 50degN  - the Path to Japan pretty much stays open under but the very worst of conditions, but Eu and East Coast USA gets beaten up very quickly.

If I can see visual aurora I can basically shut down and take up trying to mount surface mounted components for a few days :-)  But it can be very fickle - some times the "repair" can be a lot quicker than anticipated but more often not so.

I ran a 137.780 phase stable and locked carrier at around 1kW the other night but no reception - again there was visual aurora so I was only doing a "Haarp" and heating what ever is alive  beneath the loop.

Just needs to quieten down for a few more days but I think Im going to be dissapointed.
You know you have to stay optimistic all the time. Be happy to have some challenges left. What should i say, hi.

If you cab really run a key down transmission, i.e. a GPS locked "carrier" for some hours i would give it a try to appear in a uHz spectrogram, as a first goal. Of course it is only useful if the RX has a reasonable stabilitym which applies not for every grabber available.

What is the next distance to reach?

At least SAQ was seen even whilst the 137 Opera was blasting away!
