Yes, every project is good (also the xmas tree of course) since it can
start the fire for radio fascination.
For me the fire started in 1993 (17 years) where the father of a friend
wanted to discard a faulty CB TRX. After touching arround with my hand
inside the TRX i suddenly heared someone...!!!
The move to ham radio was done in 1999, where many of the CB friends
(first QSY to ham radio, 1 or 2 years later QRT!) learned for a class 3
licence (10W EIRP on 2m/70cm). So i became DO4FX first. I always sticked
to the power limit (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19882028/2m%20ODX.htm).
The move to LF was caused by DF8ZR who hold a presentation about LF in
2000...
Nice to think back.
I'm sure everyone could tell his story. Quite individual and somehow
more fascinating than Facebook, isn't it?!

This kid is already going strong with a 20 Mt PIC controlled colpitts
oscillator beacon,
While studying for his license exam in November. Not so bad. Let's see in
the future.
Not at all. Sounds promising.
Show him how to build a variometer! ;-)
