Hi All

I have suggested a Yahoo group for the LF reflector in the past. There is the UK500kHz Google group of course which works well but much under used. It is unfortunate that the Blacksheep set up has not taken advantage of the File store facility that Yahoo and Google have. There must be tons of good info circuits calculations and design and operating ideas that have been discussed that is now only held in "Private" data bases. Had this reflector migrated to one of the above facilities years ago just think of the wealth of knowledge that would have been compiled and stored for new comers to trawl. I used the SDR Softrock yahoo group and there you can find all the circuits pc layouts design ideas and new thoughts on SDR that date back over 7 or 8 years of SDR development. I just feel this reflector with its major contributers to the art of MF/LFVLF operation has lost over the years major major contributions that would be useful to those who are new to this part of the radio spectrum and to those of us like me who are slow learners to catch up. Fragmented web sites don't have the critical mass of a discussion group with a filing and search facility.

This reflector is IMHO the only real "Watering Hole" for the LF Art and deserves a better home.

Thats my ten cents (sorry pence) worth; written in the spirit of trying to be constructive.

Hello Group,
I am another “lurker”, but have greatly appreciated the LF reflector over the years.
I also have a Yahoo account and follow other radio-related groups on there, so I would be quite happy if the reflector moved onto Yahoo.

Hi Roger

Why not go for it and start it yourself.
We know some will not move so it will be an additional facility. Please make sure it is has no taboo, frequencies, modes, opinions, or subjects rules, and no childish sulking.

With the latest outage (5 days already) may I again suggest that the LF-reflector migrates to a Yahoo group?

In over 10 years I have rarely had delays in messages, outages, or problems with any group to which I belong or moderate.

Instead they have had these advantages:
  1. Messages can be read on the web if preferred (saves cluttered in-boxes)
  2. There is rarely a delay of more than a few minutes before messages are received.
  3. All messages are archived and searchable.
  4. Large files can be stored.
  5. Photos can be stored - 100Gigs worth.
  6. Links can be stored/shared
  7. Videos can be stored.
  8. Polls can be run.
  9. Messages can be vetted if preferred (by a number of moderators to speed up the process)
  10. Difficult members can be banned in exceptional circumstances.
  11. Spam messages can be filtered
  12. Calendars can be set up (for sked times, news of tests etc)
The advantages go ON and ON and, frankly, I simply cannot understand why the change hasn't made years ago. With the problems this week it is surely time.

To set up a new Yahoo group called "LF-reflector" (or whatever) would take about 30 seconds and migration to it by all interested members here would take about a day at most. All you need is to agree a group name, who owns it, who can moderate posts and some basic group ground rules/FAQs.

Please, think about it again.
