Hi Tracey,

My advice is get the most powerful one you can find. Soldering outside
is much more difficult than in the shack due to lower ambient and
greater heat losses. Also a box to act as a windshield is useful. The
Iron (bolt) size I have found most useful was sold by RS as part no RS
684-210. It will produce up to 500degC (it says). It works well on PL259
and similar and will cope with centre pin of 'N' type to solid inner
(Heliax etc) The standard bit measures about 15 mm width.
