Tnx Roger for the Met office details.
I will approach the 9 Khz slowly and in two
stages.
Stage 1
When I have worked all of the UK stations that are
active on 137 Khz on either CW or QRS3, most of whom I have not yet heard in
spite of the fact I am working all around EU and Russia
daily.
Stage 2
When I am able to hear/see the UK stations with NOV'S
active on 9 Khz, none detected so far, although I am able to copy DK7FC and
OE5ODL in QRS3 mode.
I specify the above criteria because it would be
counter productive for me to embark on a project where there would
be noone to communicate with.
I think UK amateurs would need to think in terms
of Kilowatts and Amps on the lower frequencies like they do in
EU and the USA.
otherwise VLF/LF/MF will turn out to be a
DAMP SQUIB.

Hi Mal
The only requirement is to inform the Met Office when you'll be
on-air - they always say OK - (they do this so they can check if they've
had interference to their sensitive monitoring gear) and to submit logs.
You would be a most valuable member of the Dreamers and I urge you to
submit an NoV application. Looking forward to receiving your big signals
soon.
All the best

Via my 2.4GHz handheld (iPod Touch 4g)
Stefan es Ossi when you are ready for a QSO let me
know.
From recent observations on both signals I
am satisfied that I can receive both at a satisfactory level for a QSO
at between QRS 3 and QRS 30 depending on condx at the actual time. I
will reply xband on either 137.7 Khz or 502.6 Khz if you can receive
satisfactory on those frequencies. I do not have a permit for TX on 9
Khz and then I think one can only TX at a time convenient to the UK Met
office.
Pse advise when you are QRV
