I'm reasonably new to the group, just
re-registered, although I did lurk in the background last winter.
The intention is to get myself a better setup for
the winter months and build myself a transmitter for 136 and maybe have some
fun along the way.
Station location is fairly close to Mizen Head,
the opposite end of Ireland to Finbarr (extreme SW), in IO51DN.
In the meantime I will continue to

Well I need to do an estimate of ERP with the
"earth antenna", so will try to measure this in the coming days. Jusging by
reports so far the system is about 6-10dB down on my top loaded vertical
antenna. The power from the transverter is 5W still but with the vertical
the ERP was only around 1mW (calculated and measured). So, at a first guess,
the ERP is probably around 200uW but perhaps with directivity because of the
loop action.

watts into my 600 meter 70' vertical gets me easy CW copy at 100 miles in
daylight. If you can get a bit over 100 miles with 5 watts CW in daylight
with that Earth Electrode antenna, then you know it works damn
good.
