Have you checked what happens with the SNR if you increase the probe C, say to 
10pF?

Dear James,

Thank you for your comments. I did already as you suggested and increased 
the bias resistor to 10 M.
The coupling/decoupling capacitors were increased to 1 uF and the RFC's to 
8.2 mH.
This gave an increase in signal level of around 20 dB.
However the SNR was the same, so nothing was gained in the end.
This modification might be useful for an insensitive receiver, though.

The probe capacitance is approximately 3 pF.
