Some will argue that cw and rtty are

you did not mention PSK31 (why?) - this mode definitely gained
permanent accepatance among radioamateur community
as it can be easily seen observing the bands through the last decade.
G3PLX, indeed, made a very good job! The varicode is based on
a Morse alphabet idea , it does offer a 'live' qso , you do not have
to be 'connected' ( arq, etc... ) with respect to its speed,
self-synchronization
it is really comparable to CW ( in some way , of course) and , again,
you did not mention this mode - was it by chance or by design ? :)
