A 160m wire beam would be a reasonable size. I used
a 160m single ele vert quad loop for a while, I have room for a reflector
but never put one up. My fixed direction was N/S. On 160 using 3 inv V
antennas spread out in line across a field would do nicely but for 500
a different story.

Modest height 100ft? That's higher than our
local church tower :-))
Having said that I guess in the USA there will
be those for whom this is indeed a modest height and a 300m long antenna would
only take up a corner of a garden.
For other big antennas, see also
the video of the monster 160m 3el beam antenna at OH8X being rotated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCZcjqltJVA.
Maybe they'll soon be putting up one for 500kHz?

Hi
Has anyone in the USA tried a 1/2 wave dipole
on 500 K/cs? inv V design, at a modest height around 100 ft.
