When the wx improves I was thinking of putting up
an inv V dipole for 500 at between 100 and 120 ft is my max height. This would
have a lot more gain than my inv L at the same height. The down side would be
more high angle radiation because of the low height relative to
wavelength.
It would be good for local working but not the DX,
too many hops, however it might be worth trying.

Modest height 100ft? That's higher than our
local church tower :-))
Having said that I guess in the USA there will
be those for whom this is indeed a modest height and a 300m long antenna would
only take up a corner of a garden.
For other big antennas, see also
the video of the monster 160m 3el beam antenna at OH8X being rotated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCZcjqltJVA.
Maybe they'll soon be putting up one for 500kHz?

Hi
Has anyone in the USA tried a 1/2 wave dipole
on 500 K/cs? inv V design, at a modest height around 100 ft.
