Just like you said - i have no personal expierience with the "rusty bolt" effect on LF/MF, and am extrapolating HF ideas down to LF :) Hypotheticaly speaking the structure size to get enough voltage into a metal-metal oxide junction is not that great. A metal fence >100m long should be enough for local signals.

Paul-Henrik gave two frequencies: 171kHz and 225kHz (i can't see how they can give around 135.4kHz via mixing, so there is probably a third station involved). These could be Radio Russia from Kaliningrad (600kW) and Warsaw 1 from Solec Kujawski (1MW). Obviously the two are not local to him, so ICM might be probable (the "rusty bolt in the sky" :).
