I have multiple carriers on 504kHz Roman - I think some are relatively local and some a lot more distant given the qsb/strength at dawn - I pick them up on both receivers both on active and un amplified antennae so I dont think all of them can be mixing artifacts, but all cant be attributed to the second harmonic of RTE Ireland  on 252.

I would suggesting avoiding 30Hz LF of 504 or its in the splatter zone for me (!)

In China we have all sorts of temp civil and military beacons and as we are only 600kms from Korea, and just up from other countries so you can guess that a lot dont conform to "rules". As you may have seen from the Argo's from here I get all sort of temp signals appearing mostly from local devices such as variable speed motor drives/cranes/security devices as well as the normal SMPSU's. My general background noise daytime is around S4-5 but at night it zooms up of course..

500kHz (A1A only ) continues to be used by the coast stations here for weather, navigational warnings etc but Ive not heard any two way traffic and they dont move to their assigned 4xxkHz CW working channels when the sign "up".

Cheers
