Just checked, each system is round 45 watts peak , showing 90 to 100 watts
peak o/p when olivia and mfsk running , peak hight not changed .. just
under the exciter alc limit ... amazing just how much more power these
multi tone systems consum
I stopped the psk31 stream early on as Gary was reporting miss prints ..
might of pushed the sound card a bit close to the edge .. rf looked ok but
hard to tell looking at the spectrum plot
getting a good 2 tone test pattern off olivia , which is maintained when
mfsk runs , pa is only running 50% peak o/p

Looks like 200Hz and 250Hz to me - looking at three spectrograms, amd
not even properly filling the spaces in between fully. So occupied
bandwidth is less than spread.

I didn't say that. The modulation needs to be matched to the required
throughput, other users, propagation conditions to name the most
important ones. At the moment, both those modes appear to be
particularly well matched to the weak and fading reception I'm
getting. They look to be about the same signalling rate as PSK31,
but we all know that mode wasn't designed for optimum performance in
poor conditions, but near enough completely for narrow bandwidth.
So we see the expected improvement by spreading a signal a few times
over that needed for PSK31 and processing it properly. Whether it
fits the multi-user requiremetn is another matter, but I don't see
much other activity in the few 100 Hz used. Anyway, it looks as if
QRSS woud co-exist inside the tone spread.

Initially it looked as if Olivia was the more robust of the two, but a
bit uncertain now. MSFK-8 seems to be doing a better job.
Poor signal here in IO90, only occasional copy.
